“Where is God in the midst of a major disaster?”
Genesis 1:1, 31
There is only one answer to the question of “Where” – that is “He is there. He is always there”
Most people asking this question are not really asking “Where”, they are asking “Why”. And often they are asking “Why did He do this?”
The first answer to the question of “Why” is – “I don’t know. And before we accuse God of doing it, I think we need to know more, maybe more than we will ever know.”
The second response (depending on the person and circumstance) is – “Here is what we do know”:
God is not a man
Numbers 23:19 – God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
James 1: 13 – Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
We are in a fallen World – and there are consequences
John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
We have free will and can make our own choices – and there are consequences:
Where we live and the circumstances (can effect our whole family)
Who we select and elect as our leaders
What we allow to exist among us
We choose to hold grudges, let anger boil over to violence (physically and verbally)
Where we choose to work, socialize, or even go to church
All these things can open spiritual and physical doors and give a foothold to troubles, problems, physical trauma, sickness……disaster.
Sometimes we just become a target of an attack by the wicked one – because of our witness, because of the damage we are doing to the kingdom of darkness, because of our potential:
Now here something we don’t like to hear………
Sometimes God uses pain as a tool to refine, mold, and make us into what he has planned for us.
1 Peter 1:6-9
Moves Us (sometimes when nothing else will)
Refines us and strengthens us
The best thing we can do is:
Trust Him – No matter what it looks like
So…….Where is God in major disasters?

Is it arrogant to believe that Jesus Christ is the only way?
How do we know he is the only way?
