Hi everyone, I just wanted to put you in remembrance of things I have said in the past, and, what I want to remind you of now. Many of us are familiar with what the Bible says about not only the events of the past week, but of the path of the nation in general. You can’t continually violate the Word of God and reject His way of doing things and not have consequences. I think wisdom tells us to prepare as much as we can. What does this mean? Well, here are some of the things I think Christians, and anyone else reading this, should take action on.
1. Prayer is essential. In fact, we will not have much success doing anything without prayer. 2 Chronicles 7:14 made it clear that we, the Body of Christ, have a way, a responsibility, to intercede for this nation. We need to pray to stay in line with God, and receive His guidance and protection for our family, friends and leaders too. I believe we have crossed a line. We believers don’t need to fear, but we need to be wise, discerning, ready, and prayerful. We will need everything we can get out of prayer to face and withstand what is coming over the nation we live in.
2. We need to prepare ourselves to be able to survive when our normal everyday life functions are halted or damaged. We have seen year after year what happens when cities are hit with weather events like tornadoes, ice and snow.etc…traffic comes to a halt. That means store shelves are not stocked. If makes sense for one to store extra water and other basics for such times. I believe we will see more events that will effect our nation’s transportation systems. It won’t matter if the event is simple road blockage, storm damage, or a national trauma like a terrorist attack for our national systems to be impacted. I urge you to prepare.
food – non-perishable; research and find businesses that sell this kind of product; don’t forget your favorite spices and flavorings
medical supplies – don’t forget your prescriptions and first aid supplies; vitamins and supplements
materials you would need to help make you and your home more safe – trash bags, duct tape, electrical tape, nails, batteries, flashlights; matches; large sheets of plastic
sanitary items – paper towels; toilet tissue, dental hygiene, physical hygiene; skin creams and lotions etc
protection – if you have weapons make sure they are serviceable, and visit your local weapons range on a consistent basis so that you know how to use it (and not become more of a danger to yourself), ammo supplies
To Go Bags – plan for the event that you may have to travel on foot; in addition to quantities of the items above think about cash (depending on the event it could be helpful), Hiking shoes; warm clothing, back up glasses, pocket knife, cord, battery operated radio, fork spoon, map and compass (GPS might not be up) Vaseline (fire starter and first aid); gloves. Develop a bag for your car too.
3. The thing about emergencies is that most people don’t think about them until they are in them. Think through emergency plans ahead of time. Where will you and your family meet if communications should go down? If they are separated? Where do they go if a tornado approaches? What are the emergency numbers if commo is still up? Long term – how do you survive in extreme weather (heat, cool ect). Develop your plan and make sure everyone in the family knows it.
This is by no means a complete list. You can probably find better ones if you look it up. Take the time to do so and take action.
Some may ask “Why go through so much prep? Aren’t we going to be gone before anything really bad happens?”. This is a good question. The fact is, even if you believe that the Rapture will take place before the Great Tribulation, the Bible tells us that there will be many “birth pains” running up to it. We have no idea what those events will be and how severe they will be, but events happen everyday. Tornadoes, fires, terrorist attacks ….be ready for them no matter what or when they occur. This is not about fear. It is about preparation. Be ready. Be discerning. Be prayed up. And be ready to help others when they come to you.
